Hubballi: 13-Year-Old Boy Dies by Suicide After Being Scolded for Excessive Phone Use
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: A 13-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide after his parents reprimanded him for his excessive mobile phone usage. The boy, who lived in Navanagar and attended a CBSE school, became upset after the scolding. According to police, he was addicted to his mobile phone and allegedly hanged himself while family members were away.
Police Commissioner expressed deep sadness over the incident, emphasizing that parents should seek counseling for their children if they notice any signs of addiction or abnormal behavior related to gadgets.
City-based psychiatrist Dr. Shivanand Hiremath told Hubli Express that he frequently encounters young individuals struggling with mobile phone and gadget addiction. He emphasized that early intervention, including counseling and medication, can help children overcome such addictions.
Dr. Hiremath urged parents to monitor their children’s mobile phone usage closely and to avoid giving them smartphones at an early age. He encouraged parents to seek guidance from a psychiatrist if they observe any concerning behavior in their children, as professional support can effectively address and mitigate addiction issues.
